COVID-19 Safety Message: Visit our practice with confidence – your safety is our top concern.
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
Do you hate going to the dentist? You’re not alone. Almost half of Americans say they are nervous about visiting the dentist. Some people are so afraid, they put off needed dental care.
New Castle Dental Associates offers several types of sedation dentistry to provide a safe, comfortable, and anxiety-free dental experience. Best of all, we can usually fix problems that built up over time in just one or two visits. Call us today at (302) 352-2321 to schedule your pain-free dental appointment with sedation dentistry.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
At New Castle Dental Associates, our team offers several methods to help patients relax during their treatment. During your first appointment, we’ll discuss the level of sedation you may need. Most people are fine with nitrous oxide, which is also known as laughing gas, or with a topical sedative such as novacaine. Some people prefer an oral sedative, which is a pill that our dentist will prescribe for you to take before your appointment. Valium is an example of an oral sedative.
Dr. Chamish is also certified in Intravenous Sedation. The sedative is delivered through an IV and the patient will either stay awake but feel completely relaxed, or will fall asleep. Either way, the patient does not feel any pain. Many people prefer to sleep through their dental procedures because more work can be performed. Plus, it’s completely pain-free and the patient awakes with no memory of the experience.
Who is a Good Candidate for Sleep Dentistry in New Castle?
Many people in New Castle and the surrounding towns call us to inquire about sleep dentistry because they or somebody they know suffer fall into one of these categories:
- Afraid of the dentist
- Hate the sounds or smells associated with dental offices
- Have a severe gag reflex or very sensitive teeth
- Can’t get numb with novacaine or other topical sedatives
- Have special needs, including dementia
- Don’t have a lot of time for dental visits and want to finish the work quickly
People call New Castle Dental Associates every day to improve their smiles. One of the greatest benefits of sleep dentistry is that there are no shots, no pain, and no memory of the treatment. The patient simply sleeps during the procedure and wakes up with a new smile. Sleep dentistry makes the visit less stressful for the patient, and by having a good experience, the person’s dental phobia may lessen. That could make the patient feel much more comfortable about returning for regular dental care in the future.
